Best of 2013-- The Bridal Party

Best of 2013-- The Bridal Party

Whether they consist of two or twenty-two, these people know how to have a good time. I've never met with a bride and groom who have said, "Yeah, you'll have to be pretty careful with our bridal party. They're a pretty lame bunch of people." Quite the contrary. It always surprises us the places these girls will walk in heels or the heights these guys jump in suits. We are so thankful for the willingness of these friends to do whatever necessary to create such fun memories for the bride and groom. They have shared in the lives of the bride and groom through thick and thin and now they get to share with them in one of the most important celebrations of their life. There is always so much attention given to the bride and groom, but here we want to credit the bridal party. Not for just having fun with us at the wedding day, but for being so supportive of your friends and family in their marriage. We can't wait to see the people we will meet this year and the friendships we will gain because of it.

Kristen LeBlanc & Jim Vande Logt Engagement Session

Kristen LeBlanc & Jim Vande Logt Engagement Session

Kristen and Jim and I all met up at the Westosha Airport near the town of Wilmot, WI.  It was a fabulous day and one of my favorite engagement sessions ever!  You see Jim is a pilot and we agreed it would be fun to shoot with one of the small aircraft he is able to fly.  What an incredible experience.  While it was a bit warm the skies were breathtaking.  We had fun shooting some modelesque photos with the planes and then we headed onto the tarmac which was my favorite spot!  Then we had wild flowers in a field.  An old shed and they had their Yellow Lab!  Take a look at the photos.  Here is the link: Westosha Airport Engagement Photos.

Shey & Phil Engagement Session

Shey & Phil Engagement Session

Shooting engagement sessions is always a blast.  However, this one was particularly wonderful for me.  You see October proved to be the busiest month of the year and while on one hand I felt like I had no time to go to Baraboo, WI and Devil's Lake to shoot this session, getting out in the fresh air and hanging out with these two was more refreshing than I would have ever imagined.

We hiked up the mountain to find the place where Phil proposed to Shey.  All of us consider ourselves active and athletic and at first wouldn't admit to wanting to stop and take breaks until I broke the ice and asked to take a moment, pretending that my gear was weighing me down.  We took shots on the cliffs, along the paths, on top of boulders, fallen trees, the railroad tracks and more.  Here are the photos from the session that became a wonderful break within a busy time for me.

Five boys in Paradise

Friday I was blessed with the opportunity to shoot Matt & Megan Paddock’s family portraits at Paradise Springs in Eagle Wisconsin.  We shot their boys and their cousin’s as a Christmas gift to grandma.  The five boys ages 2 to 10 made for quite a challenge trying to corral all that energy and enthusiasm. Come tackle me!  ... Be careful what you wish for.  Noah middle left loves to rough house!  :)IMG_1513

Reed seems like a wonderful little boy.  Love his smile!

This was a waterfall and the the texture in this photo was completely natural. They were the spray coming up from the waterfall!

It seemed like Paradise Springs offered endless natural opportunities for photographic backdrops!

Photojournalism as its best.  Trying to get five boys to all cooperate at the same time is what miracles are about.  My super powers must have been limited on this day.  But I love the fact that I was able to capture dozens of natural "boys will be boys" type shots.

Owen has a mind of his own.  Smiling and looking at the camera must have seemed like someone was asking him to open his mouth and let the dentist pull out a painful tooth.

I think someone camera left was holding a instrument of torture...oh wait that was me with a camera!  Love the look! Thanks Owen because this is my favorite little boy shot of the day!!!!

Despite himself Owen did in fact smile and laugh and have tons of fun.  This photo is evidence!
