Kristie & Conor flew me to Washington, DC to shoot their engagement session. It was a quick overnight trip and we had perfect weather the Monday I arrived. It was so fun to walk around DC and take photos with limitless backdrops. I must have walked 10 miles before during and after our time together.
Check out the photos below for a quick peak. Or you may follow this link: Washington DC Engagement Session.
Natalie and Mark were married at The Rotunda in downtown Waukesha. While the day turned out to be cold and windy you could see the warmth and love on Mark's eyes every time he gazed at his beautiful bride.
We started by meeting up in the parking lot of Waukesha State Bank. There is an unbelievably gorgeous river walk with bridges, archways, rock structures and gazebo. The rain held off just in time to get photos we needed. Then when we reached Rotunda and wanted to shoot some romantics in front of the majestic main entrance it started snowing! Yes, it snowed on April 16th! But I think the snowflakes really added something to the shots. Below are some favorite images from the day. Katie and Brent were married at the Westin in Chicago. We started out with a first look in the bridal suite and then headed off on the trolley to the Planetarium to get some skyline shots and shoot the wedding party. While it was a beautiful sunny day the weather was a bit nippy with the wind. But nothing could put a damper on the love that Katie and Brent have for each other. Katie was absolutely stunning and Brent couldn't stop smiling.

Meet Cassy and Frank. They are getting hitched on October 15th and we decided to get the engagement photos done in the middle of February. Winter engagements always present a bit of a challenge because it can be cold and windy. But we picked a pretty good day to shoot. Not too cold or windy. Although my fingers were numb by the end of the shoot.
Grand Geneva is one of my favorite cold day locations because there are beautiful places to shoot all the way around the hotel. If it gets too cold we can go inside to shoot for a bit and then go back out for more scenic locations.
Below are some sample images from the shoot.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to be a guest on a MPTV show called Hard Hitters: The Game of Racquetball. I was the resident amateur racquetball player while all the others were sponsored or professional players. Intimidated? No...I was honored to be a part of such an illustrious group of men.
Brant Spiewak one of racquetball's elite sportsmen was our esteemed moderator for the 30 minute show along with Paul Krueger, Tom Griffith, and Dan Hodges. The show was written to be a good introductory explanation of the game and some key aspects to the game. I was impressed with how natural Brant was as a moderator, using the teleprompter like an old pro. It was as if he had once been a weather man or something!
What a fun experience though! We stepped into the TV studio and were told we need to go to Make Up to get the shine out. We all took this in stride and actually got a kick out of sitting in the make up room being made up for the show.
Then we went into the TV room and got all "miked up." The rehearsal was hilarious. Brant and these guys were a never ending stream of jokes while we waited anxiously for the show to start. Below are some photos from that unique experience.
Emily and Sam, rockstars for sure, met up with me on a mild February day in Lake Geneva. Our goal had been to get some photos doing one of their favorite winter activities...Ice Skating. Unfortunately the rinks we had planned to check out were drained or unusable. So we improvised. We found a smooth spot on Geneva Lake and where able get the shots we wanted. I like that we were able to use a Lake Geneva icon...The Riviera as a back drop for their photos. Then we climbed over a wall...
Renee owns Frontier Flowers of Fontana and we have worked countless weddings together over the years. So when we were brainstorming ways to showcase her work and with Valentines Day right around the corner we came up with a great idea. Renee made a beautiful and creative bouquet for me to shoot in her shop and when were done I was able to take it home to give to my lovely wife. Below find some of the favorite images from the shoot.
Many see Lake Geneva as a quick 3 day weekend get-a-way during the summer. They may stay at Grand Geneva, The Abbey Resort, and other wonderful resort locations. Some love it here so much they buy a second home. But sometimes another option is overlooked. Consider coming and staying for one or two weeks perhaps make it a family reunion and stay at a Keefe Rental property. They specialize in week long or more vacations in the Lake Geneva area. There is much more you can explore especially when you make this destination a longer vacation!
I’ve enjoyed working with Keefe Resort Rentals as they have many private vacation rentals, which can be a more cost-effective way to travel than one might think. The homes, condos, and lakefront homes offer fully-stocked kitchens and all the amenities of home; more spacious than a hotel room. Many units can accomodate multiple families which helps to defray the costs. Check them out at: www.keeferentals.com.
